Family Ski Holidays
What is the Secret Recipe for the Perfect Family Ski Holiday?
- Childcare - Care for children of all ages is usually available in each large resort. Prices can vary from affordable to expensive, depending on the company.
- Children friendly ski school - Get the pro’s to teach you and your kids! There are many exceptional ski-schools which cater for large and small groups of children. Adults can watch their little ones snowplough and zig zag all day long, or do some skiing or snowboarding of their own - while the kids learn good habits from veteran instructors, or the whole family can take lessons at once. Prices vary from £20/hour-£40/hour Per adult with lesser prices for kids. Shop around!
- Child friendly ski chalet / ski hotel menu - Kids need fresh produce, and may have special dietary considerations. Many chalets and hotels will be happy to show you their kids menu in advance of booking (in many cases, they will have this info on their web-site)
- Child friendly ski accommodation - This excludes some catered ski chalets. Modern ski hotels are generally 100% child friendly - and often more accessible (elevators etc.)
- Non-Ski activities - having rock climbing, swimming, table tennis, sledging, sports centres, walking and other activities to do is essential in case the kids want to try something other than skiing/boarding.
- Family Lift Pass / discount - Families can save up to 20% if they buy group lift passes - adding up to great savings even over a 5 day holiday.
- Travel Cots - If you have a young infant, many operators will provide Travel cots with a blanket and sheets but be warned - you may want to pack your child’s favourite blanket from home so they can feel like they are at home!
- Baby Monitors - Relax and chat in the chalet knowing your loved ones are fast asleep.
- Both ski and snowboarding facilities - resorts should cater for everyone in the group - snowboarding parks and runs are as essential as green runs!
